The task of the fleet:
Primary support for the army by supporting the army’s flanks during the advance to the south.
For this task, a squadron of the Corvettes Galathea and Najaden, the brigades of St. Thomas and Mercury, the steamer ships Geiser and Hekla, as well as 10 cannon shells and 6 cannon dinghies. The squadron commander, Commander Captain F. Paludan, hoisted his stand on board the Geiser, while his second-in-command, Captain Steen Bille, hoisted his command sign in Hekla.
The troop transports were under the command of Captain P. W. Tegner. The transport fleet consisted of a larger transport fleet of private steam and sailing vessels, first at Korsør, but later also at Funen and in Flensburg fjord. The navy succeeded in supporting the army in its advance in Schleswig, and in particular Captain Bille with Hekla was active.

The liner was originally to be named after the Crown Prince and was named Prince Christian Frederik in memory of the liner of the same name, which was destroyed in the battle at Sealand on 22 March 1808.

Gefion was captured by the rebels during the battle in Eckernförde fjord on April 5, 1849. After the conquest, it was repaired and included in the German Federal Navy under the name Eckernförde. When the Federal Navy was dissolved in 1852, the ship was taken over by Prussia and again given the name Gefion.

On March 28, Geiser ran into Flensburg Fjord to reconnaissance and at the same time try to convey the Danish King’s proclamation to the Schleswig.
After being shot, it withdrew without setting fire. Geyser was damaged in the battle at Eckernförde on April 5 and arrived in Copenhagen on April 8, 1849.
(In 1863, Geiser brought crew, tanker and other goods to the newly built armored ship Rolf Krake in Glasgow.)
